Sodium batteries.

In my prognosticating (guessing) about the future, one focus was on the process of getting fresh water from salt water. And, one of the challenges to this process is the brine – water with extra sodium content – that is left.

If batteries could use sodium as the raw material, this would be optimum. So, I am encouraged that these sodium batteries are in the production phase.

In a previous post, I showed the interest in solid state batteries. Now there is an article showing some development of solid state sodium batteries. The research is focused on “the best compositions for polymer electrolytes.” This focus is to prevent overheating or the formation of sodium dendrites. The technology is in the small scale testing phase. Hopefully it will be a useful, mass produced technology in the future.
