I was looking on a weather map and we are dead set in the middle of this oncoming heatwave.
My understanding of life-threatening overheating comes from the somber story of Korey Stringer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korey_Stringer
In my neighborhood, we are well-insulated from extreme weather: not coastal, protected from tornadoes by mountains, and an efficiently draining basement.
Speaking of the basement, we may well be sleeping down there.
While 2024 might be even hotter than 2023, and we are still emitting a record number of CO2, I saw one tidbit of good news in this video. If we can stop emitting methane, because it does not stay in the atmosphere for a long time, the temperature could decrease. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzLnqj1Xt3U
