Bike Path

There has been a logjam of meat cars passing through before heading back out. But that is just an excuse. We have been having too good a time in Ulaanbaatar for nearly a week. Between Ann acting like a (human) animal on the dance floor, and Slate singing karaoke about the subconscious drive, we are an unadulterated riot.

That is not to say we haven’t learned anything. The recommended route to the second stop on the Yellow Line is a path following the Tuul River until it bends north. There, a converted highway goes southwest through the Orkhon Valley. We can stay at an ancient monastery before finishing at the 2nd station.

Because of the distance, most people recommended tricycles with body fairings. A bicycle does not self-stabilize like a tricycle, and it is too far to sit comfortably on a saddle. Three wheels are also better for carrying our stuff, such as tents and food.

Another suggestion – bring pressurized air to spray off all the crap from the trail.
