Climate justice can’t happen without racial justice. David Lammy
He talks about those who are vulnerable and those who are in power.
I am reminded how clueless I am about people and the social, economical, and political aspects of society.
It is important to be somewhat literate about things you are clueless about. (8/10)
The energy Africa needs to develop – and fight climate change. Rose M. Mutiso
Rose M. Mutiso augments David Lammy’s Speech, giving more specifics about why the global south needs more faces on the committees, so I added it here, a bit out of order. My reactions – with his speech in mind are:
- I want to reiterate – for some people, the goal is to maintain or increase their capital advantage over others. It is difficult to solve social justice problems in a capitalist world. Ok, a lot of these problems are difficult to solve.
- I am well aware that fossil fuels fueled the industrial revolution, leading to the standard of living that we enjoy. And, to deprive these to developing nations is unjust.
- 48 African countries combined are responsible for less than 1 percent of the CO2 in the atmosphere – wow. I applaud your energy efficiency.
- Developing countries – please don’t become reliant on resources that are not abundant in your lands.
