We are now on the outside, in the wild lands. Exhilarating!
Even in the ‘wild’, we are hiking on coconut coir trails, meticulously managed by hand. We follow this humane path through nature to a semi-permanent campground.
We were able to book our first yurts – one for the ladies; one for Eugene Douglass, Mac, Slate, and his dog; and one for the outdoors men. The yurts are like Shoemann and Shouwren’s greenhouse, but with farming and living, altogether. This means that we will be sleeping under pear trees.
With a collection of pears in bag, we started our first ascent. It was a coconut coir trail interspersed with rock climbs. The rocks took over as the ascent steepened. Each of us climbed deliberately, but at our own ease. This left the outdoors men to summit first.
They were going up another peak as the rest of us ate our lunch. It was a delicious picnic surrounded by cherry blossoms from above and below. Our trip begins through cherry colored glasses.
