You can’t wait in freezing weather for long.

With some reluctance, we bundled all our belongings onto our backs and headed back down the glacier.

The weather did break long enough for us to view K2 in its majesty. There wasn’t enough time for the image to be etched into our memories. And the glimpse left us like a dream.

Our trip is almost over. There is no time for souvenirs, but our souls are renewed, as is our perception of the world.
