At the 400km mark, we enter the picture-perfect zone of Llanquihue glaciation, the Southern Patagonia Ice Field: Parque Los Glaciares, Parque Torres del Paine, Cerro Torres, and the mountain right in front of us, Cerro Castillo.
Cerro Castillo rises above the landscape with a jagged top resembling a castle. We set up camp at a distance to view the mountain.
We treasure this view. Night came, and our campfire chat was back to giving cheer to our traveling companion, Slate. As the sun rose the next day, the castle was illuminated as if a spotlight was on our destination. Enough said, and we were away!
