We crossed the Gulf of Oman and transferred on the Jaffa Line to Lahore. Here in the Himalayas, we will pursue the last item on our travel list, K2.
There is much to do in preparation. So we are taking it slowly, searching the internet for advice, buying gear for glacier hikes, while also taking in some museums and architectural tours.
The hike to the K2 base camp will be extremely challenging. It will require a step-by-step procedure with trials and errors. We’ll need these supplies:
Goretex leggings
3d scanned and printed sandals with secure fasteners and recycled tire soles (we learned our lesson in Patagonia)
3d scanned and printed crampons with heel cushioning
thermal base layers (three sets)
down pants and a parka with a hood
half a dozen pairs of socks
bandanas, a face mask, and balaclava, two wool or fleece hats, a sun visor
two pairs each of synthetic gloves and Gore-Tex mitts
glacier smart glasses
food
backpack and a day pack
