We are preparing for everything Patagonia will throw at us: the weather, the rivers and lakes, the altitude.
Each of us has been shopping in their own style:
Tonya’s trenchcoat is more like a colorful parka. Ann has a cycling-tights-look going on, which is understandable given her background. Both Hyung and Keith, our leaders, are taking wetsuits. That is somewhat disconcerting. Slate’s wearing a Clint Eastwood size poncho. And Christine is too cool, her sunglasses reflecting the gorgeous blue sky.
We have all bought a Goretex trench coat with extra-long sleeves and a built-in backpack with a built-in umbrella. We also have agreed that Goretex leggings which run down to the toe are a good buy. They fit well inside waterproof hiking sandals or whatever footwear we choose. An alpaca fleece hoody is a popular choice, as are alpaca fleece sweatpants.
