Climate Night, Full Frontal

I just learned about this, listening to Andrew Huberman’s conversation with Dr. Robert Sapolsky. The Sam that tells the other to go faster has positive stress, while the Sam that must follow whatever, needs stress mitigation.

I think the people with enough capital to address the climate crisis find it not sexy enough to spend their energies on. It would be better if society was aligned with long-term sustainable goals.

One of the ways a speaker can connect with an audience is by describing something that brings up an audience’s memories. When she was talking about waste problems, it brought back a lot of poor memories.

I know one of the difficulties of climate change is the suddenness that it is happening. We can’t plan for something that is suddenly changing. Public sewage that is out of control is a scary thought.

I remember in the show’s first year, when a senior media person from the right was on Sam’s show, warning her not to do as the right has done. It is a difficult balance. On one hand, comedy shows have the leeway to tell it like it is, regarding right-wing news. They don’t have to maintain the dignified response of mainstream news. On the other hand, like the futility of fighting fire with fire.. it can backfire. And I got that feeling when she mentioned Rand Paul. Sam, be wary of topics like Rand Paul!

Even so, I give this a moving rating.
