Countdown 9

The US is back in the Paris Agreement. What’s next? | John Kerry and Al Gore

I watched this, all 38:10 minutes, with interest. But, I am unwilling to get into political things. (N/R)

(edited, too political, N/R)

A concrete idea to reduce CO2 emissions | Karen Scrivener

As a teacher of English as a second language, I am used to speaking with concrete nouns, words that are easily understood. Her talk about a new kind of concrete has the same feel – “So, the possibility to replace Portland cement with a different material, but with the same properties, and used in the same way, but with a much lighter carbon footprint..” I am left hopeful after this talk. (9/10)

Community-powered solutions to the climate crisis | Rahwa Ghirmatzion and Zelalem Adefris

As an ESL teacher, I am familiar with the concept of lexicon – the vocabulary of a branch of knowledge. I can only laugh at myself, an English teacher. I am not moved by the environmental lexicon these speakers use. (N/R)
