People talk about solid state batteries for electric vehicles as the holy grail of battery development. One day they could be, but the current production of solid state batteries is at a smaller scale – for wearable tech.

The issue of scale brings up another option – electric scooters and bicycles. It was actually the original idea that set me off on my ‘bicycle project’ – that maybe we are not meant to be traveling around in heavy boxes. The heavy boxes, though, provide a safety cushion in crashes that bikes don’t. I am looking into to this with a ‘safety tricycle’ design.
