Glasgow

I trusted the channel, Just Have a Think, to summarize Glasgow COP26 for me. https://youtu.be/ySvwToK19Aw

I was most interested in the Glasgow Declaration on forest and land use. More than 19 billion dollars sounds impressive. But, he noted what is obvious – the last declaration did not work at all. Furthering my misery, man-made plantations count as forests? This is another way of talking about something wildlife know as habitat loss.

Oh, good grief.

There was a lot of talk about helping people get their ends to meet, that we would have the resources to address the crisis. “The disconnect between climate commitments and boardroom decisions is staggering,” according to Tom Picken.

He mentioned that the phrase ‘fossil fuels’ got into some of the declarations. This is an important step as we wage a battle to stop utilizing fossil fuels.

Yes, there was some progress. I hope we have some real progress to report in the next COP, next year in Egypt.

The summary from the Climate Action Tracker Team: at least 2.1 degrees of warming by the end of the century if things go well.

He ends it by asking us to get thoroughly determined. I already am.
