Our Great National Parks, episode 3, Tsavo Kenya

In my blog about traveling through the wild lands in the future, our group went to Patagonia. Then we turned around. Some of the group sailed to the continent of Africa. As tourists, we zipped across the continent, not fully knowing what was going on around us.

I was left with this feeling of ignorance after watching episode 3, Tsavo National Park in Kenya. https://www.netflix.com/kr-en/title/81086133

What is ‘natural’? As the animals of this episode travelled great distances in search of water, I reflected on the climate refugees of today.

The animals had clever adaptations. Elephants were digging wells, and using their tusks to suck up ground water below a dried up river. Birds were filling their breast feathers with water, and carrying the water to their families.

What adaptation will be best for the citizens of Kenya? Will these adaptations be in the ‘natural’ category? Only time will tell.
