The Green Line

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.” – Dr. Suess

We continue south on the Green Line to Salinas Bay for kiteboarding and surfing.
This hyperloop line was named ‘Green’ in recognition of the time in 1948 when Costa Rica went green. The lands had been degraded, and the president decided to take a sledgehammer to the military-industrial complex. Government money was diverted to healthcare, education, and environmental protection.
In 2014, 99% of its electrical energy came from renewable energy sources, about 80% of which was from hydroelectric power. They also reversed deforestation through financial incentives.
And we appreciate these forests as we make our way to an area of ecosystems containing hundreds of thousands of species.
