We got a pretty good feel for wide-open places while riding through the steppes. But on our journey through the wide-open spaces of the Northern Plains, we aren’t following a human-made path. We’ll just head out into the wild prairie.
For this terrain, we will be riding bison bikes, bicycles with great big wheels and modest gear ratios.
And bison is what we mainly hope to see. We have been hit or miss spotting animals. We spotted moon bears with the help of AI. We spotted a fish owl after following our wise guide. We didn’t see the sea eagle we were looking for. We saw every kind of arctic mammal on the list. And some of us spotted a moose.
The life-supporting ecosystems, so beautiful and nurturing, keep us going.
We will take the North American Amber line to stop number 7.
