Ann: We’re staying for a few days in a traditional chum. There is nothing to the accommodation except branches, red deer hides, and foam mats. Lovely. We use a central fire pit for preparing coffee – at 5 AM wake up.

Keith: Our next direction is seaward. We will take a radial line to the coastal city of Nikolayevsk-on-Amur, where we will hire a boat to the Kamchatka Peninsula. We shall see if we can see a sea eagle on the coast.

Mac: We are sad to leave our wise host. We’ve walked together and got to know each other. May his words return to us as our travel continues.
