Finding Refuge

It started raining today. Woo boy! did it rain.
As we were ascending, Mount Tronador, the rain was falling from the skies. The water flowed over our barrier – over the umbrella, onto our backs, down the leggings, and out through our sandals. And it was coming down the path we were on. Eventually, we lost our footing. The connection between sandals, Goretex, and feet became sloppy. Then some of us got sore feet, and our pace slowed.

A little duct tape and we secured our feet. Some true grit, and we made it to Refugio Otto Meiling.
The state of our group, though, is not pretty. Seeing us, some hosts took pity on us. They gave us comfortable accommodations. They helped us get set up. And they took us to a supply store for new footwear.
With proper shelter, a hot shower, and some hot soup, we began to plan for tomorrow.
